The Good Life

The Good Life
Top Golf The next time you’re stuck in traffic on the Golden Glades Interchange, take a look at those big nets off to the north. It’s the home of Top Golf, where you can practice your swing, take lessons and enjoy a lively sports bar atmosphere. Games involve microchipped balls and players aiming for 11 giant targets. The golfing bays are rented for $25 to $45 an hour, which can be as cheap as $4.16 a person. The bar features original concoctions, such as the Citrus Cabana, which comes in a golf bag-shaped mug you can take home. Wash it down with some fun foods, like bacon mac ’n cheese spring rolls.

Enchanted in Mexico
Mahekal Beach Resort, which is said to take its name from a Mayan word that translates to “pure and clean,” is a collection of 100 thatched-roof palapas along the Gulf of Mexico near Playa del Carmen. The structures range in size, view, amenities and layouts with such options as two-level casitas, treehouses, beach houses and penthouses. Some have their own plunge pools. The interiors feature traditional Mexican decor by local artisans, such as silk rebozos (long, flat shawls) from the state of Michoacán and pottery from Oaxaca. Regional items populate the menu at the resort’s four restaurants. Conde Nast Traveler readers voted it the No. 11 resort in Mexico.
