Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill to Headline 11th Annual Veterans Day Salute

YMCA honors the men and women who have served the United States.

The YMCA of South Florida will host its 11th Annual Veterans Day Salute on Friday, November 7, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Bonaventure Town Center Club in Weston, presented by Milner Technologies and in partnership with the City of Weston.

This year’s keynote speaker is Robert O’Neill, a legendary Navy SEAL and decorated combat veteran best known for his leadership and bravery during some of the nation’s most high-profile military operations. O’Neill served eight years on SEAL Team Six, participating in more than 400 missions around the world. His heroics include rescuing Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates—an event depicted in the Tom Hanks film Captain Phillips—and aiding in the mission to save “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell. He also led the team that brought down Osama bin Laden. Throughout his military career, O’Neill earned 53 decorations, including two Silver Stars and four Bronze Stars with Valor.

“Celebrating Veterans Day every year is very special for us, and we are honored to once again host this heartwarming salute to all military personnel and their families,” said Sheryl A. Woods, president and CEO of the YMCA of South Florida. “This is an extraordinary celebration of the brave men and women, past and present, who serve our country.”

More than 500 veterans and community leaders are expected to attend the annual breakfast. Each veteran in attendance will receive a commemorative gift, including a challenge coin.

Florida is home to nearly 10% of the nation’s 19.1 million veterans, ranking third in the U.S. for veteran population. The YMCA of South Florida’s military connections date back to World War I, and in the past six years alone, the organization has provided more than $860,000 in financial assistance to military members and their families. Through the Y’s military membership program, service members can access wellness programs, volunteer opportunities, facility use for training, and family-oriented events that foster connection and support.

The 2025 Veterans Day Salute is made possible through generous community partnerships. In addition to presenting sponsor Milner Technologies, key supporters include Keynote Sponsor Fision by Hotwire Communications, Partnership Sponsor the City of Weston, and Host Sponsor Bonaventure Town Center Club. Platinum sponsors include Brown & Brown Insurance, Fifth Third Bank, Rick Case Automotive Group, Spirit Airlines, and Verizon.
