South Florida Companies Tumble in the Latest Fortune 500 Rankings

World Kinect and Lennar slipped, while Publix moved up 1 spot to No. 71 and remains Florida's top company by revenue.

Several of South Florida’s top-earning companies fell significantly in the latest Fortune 500 rankings.

Published annually by Fortune magazine, the list offers a snapshot of the nation’s largest companies by revenue. This year, 10 South Florida-based businesses earned spots on the list, including five in the Top 200.

Among the region’s highest-ranking companies, Doral-based energy giant World Kinect Corp. (NYSE: WKC) and Miami-based homebuilder Lennar Corp.(NYSE: LEN) both slipped in the rankings.

World Kinect fell out of the top 100, landing at No. 106, down 13 spots from No. 93 last year. Lennar dropped three places to No. 129.The energy company posted 2024 revenue of more than $42.2 billion, down from $47.7 billion, and the residential developer reported revenue of over $35.4 billion, a drop from $34.2 billion.

Although NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE), the Juno Beach-based parent of Florida Power & Light Co., fell 21 spots to No. 173 in this year’s rankings, it posted the highest profit of any Florida-based company on the list. The utility giant reported nearly $24.8 billion in revenue, down from more than $28.1 billion, and a net income of almost $7 billion.

ODP Corp., the Boca Raton-based parent company (Nasdaq: ODP) of Office Depot, fell out of the Fortune 500 altogether, tumbling 54 spots to No. 523. The company’s revenue dropped to nearly $7 billion from $7.8 billion.

Lakeland-based Publix moved up one spot to No. 71 and retained its title as Florida’s top company by revenue, reporting $60.2 billion, up from $57.5 billion.

While some large companies in the tri-county area fell considerably, others showed impressive gains.

Here’s how other South Florida companies fared in the 2025 Fortune 500 rankings, with rounded revenues:

• Fort Lauderdale’s AutoNation (NYSE: AN), with $26.8 billion in revenue (No. 160), ranking down five spots, revenue down $100 million (-0.7%)

• Palm Beach Gardens-based Carrier Global Corp. (NYSE: CARR), with $24.8 billion in revenue (No. 172), ranking up 12 spots, revenue up $2.7 billion (12.3%)

* Miami-based Ryder System (NYSE: R), with $12.6 billion in revenue (No. 334), ranking up 16 spots, revenue up $800 million (7.2%)

• MasTec (NYSE: MTZ) in Coral Gables, with $12.3 billion in revenue (No. 342), ranking up five spots, revenue up $300 million (2.6%)

• Plantation’s Chewy (NYSE: CHWY), with $11.9 billion in revenue (No. 357), ranking the same, revenue up $860 million (6.4%)

• Icahn Enterprises (Nasdaq: IEP) in Sunny Isles Beach, with $10 billion in revenue (No. 417 ), ranking down 43 spots, revenue down $800 million (-7.6%)

• Watsco (NYSE: WSO) in Miami’s Coconut Grove, with $7.6 billion in revenue (No. 486), ranking up three spots, revenue up $300 million (4.6%)

Walmart held on to its its title as the nation’s largest company by revenue, holding the No. 1 spot for the 13th consecutive year with $648.1 billion. Amazonremained at No. 2, while UnitedHealth Group rose to No. 3 this year, pushing Apple to No. 4. CVS Health moved up to No. 5, surpassing Berkshire Hathaway, now ranked No. 6. Alphabet (Google‘s parent company) climbed to No. 7 this year, ahead of ExxonMobil at No. 8. McKesson and Cencora held steady at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
