SUMMARY:Introduction to Clay – Hand Building (Thursdays and Saturdays)
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Clay – Hand Building is a bi-weekly program where students learn basic elements of clay hand building methods. Although each session is designed to work independently\, it is recommended for students to take various workshops to perfect the medium and become comfortable with the materials. \nOne hand-built object will be made during class. Underglaze (color) will be added during class by the student\, work will be cleaned up and bisque fired after work has dried\, clear glaze will be applied by the instructor after first firing\, and a second firing to finish the piece will be run immediately after. Every 2nd and 4th Saturday! \nJoin this workshop to strengthen your figure drawing skills through guided instruction and live model practice. Each class begins with a focused lesson on anatomy\, proportion\, light and shadow\, followed by two hours of drawing with male and female models. \nExplore key areas like gesture\, structure\, musculature\, foreshortening\, and portraiture\, while developing your own unique style. The final session features a long pose and group critique to track your progress. \nOpen to all skill levels.
