SUMMARY:PAW Patrol™ Adventure Play at the Museum of Discovery and Science
DESCRIPTION:Kids and families can now play and save the day with the heroic PAW Patrol™ pups\, at the brand-new PAW Patrol: Adventure Play traveling exhibit presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital\, Florida Prepaid College Savings Plan and Chewy VetCare\, opening September 12 at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS). Based on the hit preschool series PAW Patrol\, produced by Spin Master Entertainment and airing on Nickelodeon\, this interactive exhibit gives kids and their grown-ups an opportunity to run rescue missions and work together to overcome challenges in a fun and immersive environment. The exhibit runs through January 10\, 2026.\nFamilies will visit Adventure Bay with a group of eight rescue pups. Each pup is inspired by a real-world job like a police officer (Chase)\, a firefighter (Marshall)\, a construction worker (Rubble)\, a fearless pilot (Skye) and more. Just as the heroic pups\, who believe \”no job is too big\, no pup is too small\,\” work together to protect the community on the TV show\, families will work together to save the day with a can-do attitude. In the process\, kids learn about different jobs within a community and how those real-life professionals coordinate to keep people safe and happy.\nEach of the pups has special skills\, gadgets and vehicles to help them on their rescue missions. In the exhibit\, families are invited to pop on a pup pack containing their own imaginary tools and check out the lay of the land from the lookout tower. They can head to Jake’s Mountain and scope things out near the snowy slide to see if anyone is in trouble. They can also board the PAW Patroller\, push buttons\, and drive it up the mountain to help Rubble and Everest rescue a snowboarder stuck in the snow. Those with a taste for foodie adventures can whip up tasty treats in Porter’s Café and help Adventure Bay win the Tallest Cake Competition by stacking cake layers as high as they can. Families can also cruise Adventure Bay aboard the Sea Patroller\, steering it to rescue baby seagulls and turtles. \nThe hands-on\, immersive PAW Patrol: Adventure Play exhibit is a fun way for the whole family to learn bravery and heroism\, with exciting stories. The whole family will learn how to combine their skills to problem-solve together and save the day. \nWanna Be Weekends in October and November: No Job Too Big!\nMODS will extend the PAW Patrol: Adventure Play experience with Wanna Be Weekends\, taking place every Saturday and Sunday in October and November. These themed weekends feature engaging\, hands-on activities highlighting real-life community heroes and STEAM-based careers. From designing rescue vehicles and building homes to meeting local police officers\, firefighters\, first responders and even learning how to be a pilot\, families will discover how teamwork\, compassion and problem-solving shape the world around us. Thanks to support from the JetBlue Foundation\, young aviators will have the chance to explore flight science and aviation careers through special programming and guest speakers. \nOn select days\, Chewy VetCare will also host an interactive Vet Clinic\, where children can step into the role of animal caretakers by practicing empathy and learning how to care for pets and other animals in need. \nEach weekend brings new partners\, fresh adventures and opportunities for children to imagine how they can make a difference just like the heroic pups of Adventure Bay. \nPAW Patrol: Adventure Play was produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in partnership with Nickelodeon. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is a nonprofit committed to creating extraordinary family learning experiences across the arts\, sciences\, and humanities that have the power to transform the lives of children and families. \nPAW Patrol: Adventure Play is included with admission to MODS. Tickets are on sale now. \nSet in the Deep South at the turn of the 20th century\, this gripping drama follows the wealthy but morally bankrupt Hubbard family\, bound by blood but torn apart by greed. At the center is Regina\, a calculating and charismatic woman determined to get her share of the American Dream—no matter the cost. But when Regina’s ailing husband refuses to fund their scheme\, the claws come out and the lies begin to spiral. With money on the line and family loyalty up for sale\, the Hubbards prove one chilling truth: some people eat the earth—and some just stand by and watch. \nThe original Broadway production of The Little Foxes opened in 1939 at the National Theatre and ran for 410 performances. It originally starred Tallulah Bankhead as Regina Hubbard Giddens who went on to win awards and reprise her role in the 1941 radio adaptation. Tony nominations also went to Pendleton for Best Direction of a Play\, Aldredge for Best Featured Actor in a Play\, Stapleton for Best Featured Actress in a Play\, and the play itself for Best Revival. \nIsland City Stage’s production of The Little Foxes is directed by Michael Leeds and stars Mia Matthews (Regina)\, Margery Lowe (Birdie)\, Christopher Dreeson (Horace)\, JohnBarry Green (Oscar)\, Cary Brianna Hart (Haddie)\, Christian Cooper (Leo)\, Jeff Burleson (Marshall)\, Mallory Flory (Alexandra)\, Randy Coleman (Cal)\, and Steve Trovillion (Ben). \nThe Little Foxes co-producers are Thel Boyette & David Page\, Lights and Sound Sponsors are Glenn Goldberg & Robert Lee\, Talent Sponsors are Art & Fran Greenberg and Costume Sponsor is Scott Bennett. SUMMARY:South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s “Ravel on the Riviera” Annual Gala
DESCRIPTION:South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) invites patrons to sail away to “Ravel on the Riviera\,” this year’s annual gala fundraiser that captures the romance of the South of France in the golden age — where the glamour of Josephine Baker and the soulful voice of Edith Piaf filled seaside cabarets\, and champagne flowed under starlit skies. The enchanting evening\, which pays homage to both the celebrated French composer\, pianist and conductor and the sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline renowned for its artistic heritage\, will take place on Saturday\, January 17\, at 5:30 p.m.\, at Coral Ridge Yacht Club (2800 Yacht Club Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale). The event\, which celebrates South Florida community arts leaders and advocates who support SFSO’s impactful artistic\, community engagement and music education initiatives\, will feature a private performance by international pianist Svetlana Smolina. \nThis formal gala evening will recognize Sound of Success regional arts advocates Jeannette and Francisco Alvarado of Marand Builders\, Miriam Richter\, William Sandrik & Henry Smith\, Jerry Taylor & Nancy Bryant Foundation and the Warten Foundation for their instrumental support of SFSO’s impactful community outreach and musical programming initiatives. \nGuests will be welcomed with champagne and signature cocktails\, setting the tone for a night of Riviera elegance. A three-course French dinner follows\, accompanied by evocative melodies that bring to life the timeless charm of the Côte d’Azur. The highlight of the evening will be a private performance by acclaimed pianist Svetlana Smolina\, whose artistry captures the brilliance of Ravel and the spirit of the French Riviera. \nAs the night unfolds\, the celebration continues with a dessert reception\, sparkling apéritifs\, and dancing on theme — a true voyage to another era\, blending vintage Parisian allure with nautical Mediterranean sophistication. \nSFSO’s “Ravel on the Riviera” Gala is chaired by Kate and Brent Nelson. This year’s sponsors include Mark Kravitz and Aviah Flagler Village (Special Recognition)\, Chuck Nicholls and Mark Turner (Décor Sponsors) and Ombelle Fort Lauderdale (Valet Sponsor). \nSFSO’s 28th season of “Juxtapositions” explores beauty in contrasts\, where the bold and the sublime intersect\, and timeless masterpieces share the stage with today’s most compelling and celebrated musical voices. From Mozart’s vivacious “Haffner” symphony to the sun-drenched skies of Mendelssohn’s “Italian” and the sweeping emotion of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto — performances burst with color and power. Beethoven’s luminous Piano Concerto No. 4 and Dvořák’s Bohemian Eighth deepen the journey\, while Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol whirls with Spanish flair. SFSO is also proud to present upcoming orchestra firsts by GRAMMY-nominated composers\, including the Florida premiere of Had to Be by Haitian-American Nathalie Joachim\, featuring breakout cellist Seth Parker Woods\, and Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances. \nFrom sold-out masterworks performances to accompanying today’s musicians such as Natalie Merchant and performing modern musical scores including Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Back to the Future\, featuring the iconic films screened live with audio and musical accompaniment\, South Florida’s largest symphonic orchestra is continuing its journey of excellence inspiring audiences of all ages and musical genres. \nIndividual tickets for South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s “Ravel on the Riviera” Gala start at $500. Standard seating tables for 10 start at $5\,000 and VIP tables start at $10\,000. Tickets can be purchased at southfloridasymphony.org/gala-2026.
