SUMMARY:Build\, Break\, Bridge
DESCRIPTION:Curated by Luna Goldberg \nThis exhibition traces Luke Jenkins’ sustained exploration of material as both subject and collaborator. Bringing together works created over the last decade\, the show highlights his ongoing experimentation with wood. Over time\, Jenkins has developed a practice rooted in experimentation\, in which wood is reclaimed\, reshaped\, and tested through a wide range of techniques\, from CNC carving and thermal modification to inventive joinery\, sandblasting\, and even the interventions of termites. His work continually asks what materials can do\, how they change under pressure\, and how their transformations might open up new ways of making. Jenkins’ projects move fluidly between the functional and the conceptual. At times\, scraps are reimagined into benches\, tables\, or wall pieces; elsewhere\, termite-eaten planks or weathered ash panels become sculptural surfaces that speak to decay\, resilience\, and renewal. By embracing both craft and chance\, utility and experimentation\, Jenkins’ practice unfolds as an ongoing dialogue with his materials—one that reflects the passage of time\, the forces of nature\, and the possibilities of transformation. \nThis is a Weekly Recurring Event\nRuns from Jul 24\, 2026 to Sep 19\, 2026 and happens every:\nTuesdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm Timezone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)\nWednesdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm Timezone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)\nThursdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm Timezone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)\nFridays: 10:00am – 6:00pm Timezone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)\nSaturdays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)

SUMMARY:Black Movie Experience (BMX) - Farming While Black
DESCRIPTION:Join the Spady Museum and Old School Square for the Black Movie Experience (BMX)\, a free community film series showcasing powerful stories from the African Diaspora. \nThis featured screening explores the work of Leah Penniman\, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm\, as she examines the dramatic decline of Black-owned farms in the United States—from 14% of all farms in 1910 to less than 2% today. Through the efforts of Soul Fire Farm and a new generation of farmers\, the film highlights the resilience\, wisdom\, and rich agricultural traditions of African agrarianism. It offers a compelling look at how reconnecting with the land can help address issues of food justice\, environmental sustainability\, and community empowerment. \nGuests are invited to enjoy complimentary snacks and engage in meaningful discussion following the screening. Seating is limited\, and RSVP is encouraged.

SUMMARY:Before Your First Weight Loss Injection: What Every Patient Should Know
DESCRIPTION:Weight-loss injections have become one of the most talked-about health topics in America. With so much information circulating online\, however\, it can be difficult to separate medical facts from social media trends\, unrealistic promises and potentially unsafe advice. \nElite Health Care & Wellness Services invites the South Florida community to attend a physician-led educational workshop presented through its Medical Weight Management Division. The event is designed for adults who are considering weight-loss injections\, have questions about how they work\, or simply want reliable information before deciding whether medical weight management may be appropriate for them. \nThe goal of the workshop is not to pressure participants into beginning treatment. It is to help them make a more informed and responsible decision. \nLicensed medical professionals will explain the potential benefits\, possible risks and common side effects associated with weight-loss injections. Attendees will also learn why these medications do not produce the same results for everyone\, what realistic expectations may look like and why proper medical supervision is essential. \nThe discussion will address important questions\, including: \n• How do weight-loss injections work?\n• Who may be an appropriate candidate?\n• Who may need to consider a different approach?\n• Which medical conditions\, medications or personal health factors may require additional caution?\n• What side effects should patients understand before beginning treatment?\n• Why are proper dosing\, follow-up care\, nutrition and lifestyle support important? \nStarting a weight-loss medication should never be based only on a social media post\, a friend’s experience or a dramatic before-and-after photograph. Every patient has a different medical history\, different health risks and different goals. This workshop offers an opportunity to receive balanced information\, ask questions and better understand the available options before taking the next step. \nThe in-person workshop will be held on Saturday\, August 1\, 2026\, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Elite Health Care\, 345 SW 27th Avenue\, Fort Lauderdale\, FL 33312. \nThe educational workshop itself is offered at no program charge. A small $5 reservation fee\, plus Eventbrite fees\, helps reduce no-shows. Every registered attendee who checks in at the event will receive a $10 gift card. \nSeating is limited\, and advance registration is required. \nFor individuals who live outside the Fort Lauderdale area or are unable to attend in person\, Elite Health Care is also gathering interest for an online educational workshop. \nReserve your seat through Eventbrite: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/before-your-first-weight-loss-injection-what-every-patient-should-know-tickets-1993878202377 \nBefore making an important decision about your health\, take the time to understand the potential benefits\, limitations and risks. Education should always come before the first injection. \nThis event is for educational purposes and does not replace an individualized medical consultation\, diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
