SUMMARY:“Stand Up for Innocence\,” a Night of Stand-Up Comedy to Benefit the Wrongfully Convicted in Florida’s Prisons
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, Jan. 31\, American Heritage Schools and its Honors Legal Studies program are pleased to once again partner with The Innocence Project of Florida (IPF) to host its seventh annual comedy event series\, “Stand Up for Innocence\,” at the school’s Broward Campus. The event will feature three comedians\, including Tony V.\, Leighann Lord\, and Maronzio Vance. The pre-event reception begins at 7 p.m.\, and the comedy show starts at 8:15 p.m.\nThis is a fun-filled night featuring stand-up comedians who frequently appear on Comedy Central and at NYC Comedy Clubs. The evening will entail levity and laughs to raise money for The Innocence Project of Florida – a nonprofit organization that aims to help innocent prisoners in Florida obtain their freedom and rebuild their lives.\nAll proceeds from the Stand Up for Innocence comedy show will provide critical funding for IPF’s work to find and free innocent people from prison in Florida. The litigation efforts and support services for freed people are always offered at no cost to the wrongfully convicted\, ensuring that justice\, freedom\, and healing are never determined by someone’s ability to pay.\nThe impact of these events extends beyond the stage; they raise awareness\, bring communities together\, and amplify the voices of those who have endured unimaginable injustice. They are a reminder that wrongful convictions are not just statistics but human stories of resilience\, families torn apart\, and lives rebuilt.

SUMMARY:Anne Steele LIVE at Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION:Anne Steele is thrilled to be back in Ft Lauderdale and at Sunshine Cathedral with a brand-new show\, This One’s for the Girls\, celebrating songs made famous by female artists and songwriters that shaped her as an artist through the years. From growing up in a small town and searching for strong female role models to developing into a singer/songwriter and finding inspirations from so many different genres and voices\, Anne reveals so much of who she really is in this show. Realizing how lyrics matter and what you have to say in this world is everything and that using your voice has power. It will be a night filled with laughs\, tears and so much music! This is ONE NIGHT ONLY concert\, so grab your tickets now before it sells out! \nMusical Direction by William TN Hall with an amazing band from South Florida! \n\”After listening to this EP\, Made Out of Stars\, I\’m convinced that Steele herself is made out of heavenly\, cosmic stuff. Sporting a million-watt smile\, a voice as clear and bright as a bell\, and a heart of gold\, Steele’s music sounds like a good friend—the kind you call when you need lifting up. One of the pleasures of female-driven pop is its ability to tap into the anthem of the self: the best female pop vocalists amplify positive feelings and give us hope that we can transcend obstacles. And when music’s as good as Made Out of Stars I think we all get to shine a little.” – Merryn Johns\, Curve Magazine \nCathedral Pub \nThe Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts is adding a new experience – the Cathedral Pub. \nThe Cathedral Pub offers performance attendees an inviting space to gather and connect with friends prior to the show or a place to be while waiting for the doors to open. \nGuests will enjoy live music\, beverages\, and appetizers in a comfortable meet-and-greet environment while they await the start of their performance. \nOn show nights\, the Cathedral Pub opens an hour before each performance and closes 15 minutes before it starts. \nEntry to the Cathedral Pub requires a separate purchase from your seat ticket and link can be found on the seat selection page. SUMMARY:Uzumaki
DESCRIPTION:In Uzumaki\, painter Jed-Lee Metayer transforms personal grief into an act of spiritual renewal. What began as an intimate form of survival following the passing of his father\, Reverend Marcel Metayer\, has flourished into a visual language of healing. One that turns pain into purpose\, and tribulations into transformation. \nMetayer’s spirals emerge from luminous gradients of color\, their rhythmic motion echoing both the turbulence of loss and the slow\, deliberate return to peace. Each curve traces the inward and outward movement of faith: the fall\, the questioning\, the rediscovery of purpose. His mark-making\, precise yet intuitive\, mirrors prayer: a conversation between flesh and spirit\, chaos and calm. \nRooted in Japanese aesthetics and Taoist philosophy\, Uzumaki meditates on the harmony between impermanence and rebirth. Yet beneath its meditative surfaces runs the pulse of testimony of a son finding light through the residue of darkness\, of belief reimagined through creation. \nFor Metayer\, painting is devotion. The spiral is both wound and halo\, a symbol of becoming whole again. Through these works\, he invites viewers to step into the quiet orbit of transformation to witness what happens when grief is not silenced\, but sanctified through color\, rhythm\, and faith. \nClick here to learn more about Artist in Residence Jed-Lee Metayer.
