Join the Spady Museum and Old School Square for the Black Movie Experience (BMX), a free community film series showcasing powerful stories from the African Diaspora.
This featured screening explores the work of Leah Penniman, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm, as she examines the dramatic decline of Black-owned farms in the United States—from 14% of all farms in 1910 to less than 2% today. Through the efforts of Soul Fire Farm and a new generation of farmers, the film highlights the resilience, wisdom, and rich agricultural traditions of African agrarianism. It offers a compelling look at how reconnecting with the land can help address issues of food justice, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.
Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary snacks and engage in meaningful discussion following the screening. Seating is limited, and RSVP is encouraged.
