2023 Prestigious Women Awards Honoree: Aimee Fretwell

Aimee Fretwell is an integral part of the YMCA South Florida’s Financial Development Department. She began her relationship with YMCA as a volunteer and began her employment in 2007. As Executive Director of Special Events and Community Relations, she leads the YMCA’s fundraising events, including all operations, logistics and planning. Over the last six years, Fretwell has increased signature event revenue by 22% and profitability has grown 33%. She has expanded the YMCA’s MLK Breakfast into a well-attended series of events, attracting more than 1,200 prominent guests. She leads an event team of 25 and has secured National Speakers helping to increase awareness of the YMCA’s mission. Fretwell served on the Board of Directors for MPI South Florida and currently serves as Board Member for Inside Out Theater Company and is a member of the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. After receiving a B.A. from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, Fretwell spent 15 years in retail management, first at Macy’s, then the Gap Inc. and Limited Inc. Fretwell and her husband, Mike, have two college-aged students attending the University of Florida. She is an avid fan of musical theater. On the weekends, you can find her at the beach or sharing a great meal with family and friends.
