Soirée Success

Networking, food and fun

The 64th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) kicked off with the annual Superyacht Soirée hosted by Mayor Dean Trantalis and sponsored by Lifestyle Media Group, the parent company of SFBW. More than 500 international and regional dignitaries, tastemakers and marine industry professionals enjoyed the backdrop of Fort Lauderdale’s beautiful Intracoastal and stunning superyachts. Guests were welcomed by a lively Bahamian Junkanoo Band, courtesy of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, which is one of the boat show’s sponsors. Keeping the energy level amped, a live DJ within the Superyacht Village and a live band waterside played throughout the night. Some of South Florida’s most sought-after restaurants served up chef-curated bites. Featured restaurants included ETARU, Olive & Sea, Timpano’s Las Olas, YOT and Canyon, each serving a signature dish.

The presenting sponsor of the soiree was developer Kushner Cos., which has a major project at 200 W. Broward Blvd. Other sponsors were Informa Markets, which produces the show, the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, which owns the boat show, Pier 66 Sixty-Six Resort, construction company David Mancini & Sons. Inc., attorney Stephanie Toothaker’s Toothaker.org, Audi Fort Lauderdale and Aquazeal, a luxury yacht charter company.

The show, one of the biggest economic engines in South Florida, drew more than 100,000 visitors and showcased more than 1,000 vessels.

According to data from marine industry leader Brunswick Corp., FLIBS had exceptionally strong sales and share gains for many of Brunswick’s brands, including Mercury Marine.

“The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show continues to be a pivotal element of our city’s identity and economic vitality,” Trantalis said. “FLIBS remains a driving force in our city, and we’re thrilled to witness its return with unparalleled enthusiasm.”
