Jerome Post, SPHR-SCP, SPHR, currently serves as the Human Resources Director for the City of Fort Lauderdale. He began working for the City in March 2019 as the Deputy Director – Human Resources. From his first year with the City, Jerome has been active in areas of employee and labor relations, recruitment and retention, and benefits administration. During the COVID pandemic, he acted as the city’s coordinator for COVID-related issues, recommending regular policy updates based on CDC guidelines and monitoring employee absences to minimize the impact on City operations. From 2021 to 2022, Jerome served as the Organizational Change Management (OCM) lead on the project to implement a new Enterprise Resources Program (ERP) for the City’s Finance Department. From 2022 to 2023, he led the HR team in converting the same ERP for the HR and Payroll functions. Prior to coming to the City of Fort Lauderdale, Jerome was employed as the Human Resources Director for the City of Port St. Lucie, FL, from April 2015 until 2019. There, he managed a staff of 14 and oversaw areas of recruitment, benefits, labor/employee relations, training, and risk management. In that position, Jerome served as the City’s lead negotiator in bargaining contracts with four unions. Jerome also served in several HR roles at the City of Kalamazoo, MI, including Human Resources/Labor Relations Director from 2001 to 2015. Prior to working in local government, Jerome’s career path was in HR for the hotel industry, which included five years at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel San Francisco. Jerome has held the certification of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) since 2002 and obtained the Senior Certified (SCP) certification through the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) at its inception in 2015. He holds a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree from Central Michigan University with an emphasis in Human Resources.
