The Palm Beaches Holds Hospitality and Tourism Job Fair

The event has expanded to two days at different locations.

Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), in collaboration with CareerSource Palm Beach County, is organizing a two-day county-wide job fair focused on hospitality and tourism to assist businesses in filling vacancies before the upcoming busy tourism season. The Palm Beaches saw a record-breaking 5.19 million visitors in the first half of 2024, marking a 1.7% increase from the same period in 2023 and anticipates ongoing growth in visitation for the remainder of the year.

The Palm Beaches Hospitality and Tourism Job Fair is a complimentary event open to the public that aims to connect job seekers with opportunities within one of Palm Beach County’s leading industries. With over 85,000 jobs supported in the local workforce, the tourism and hospitality industry offers employees ample chances for flexibility, education, and career advancement through various pathways for mobility.

The job fairs will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Riviera Beach Marina Event Center, 190 E. 13 St., and on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Palm Beach State College (Main Campus, Public Safety Training Center) AT 4200 S. Congress Ave. in Lake Worth Beach. This year’s job fair will feature on-site translators for Spanish and Creole speakers to help them access job opportunities. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to get free professional photo headshots for their job search, which is valued at $75.

“There’s been a steady increase in visitation the past few years, so the tourism industry offers plenty of job opportunities across various divisions,” says Heather Andrews, DTPB’s Associate Vice President of Community Engagement. “We created these “ fairs to help our partners fill the gaps and advocate for this growing industry that contributes more than $10 billion in economic impact to our local community.”

Job seekers can anticipate over 20 employer booths daily, representing hotels, restaurants, attractions, and more. These booths offer various job opportunities, from seasonal part-time to full-time positions with benefits and paid time off. The available jobs cover various hospitality roles, including front desk and restaurant positions and management careers in operations, sales and marketing. Some of the employers signed up include:

Drew Limsky

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
