FIU has New Med School Dean

Robert Sackstein has been appointed dean of FIU’s Wertheim College of Medicine and senior vice president for health affairs. Sackstein comes to FIU from Harvard Medical School, where he was a professor in two departments and co-director of the Glycoscience Center. Glycoscience looks at the role of sugars in biological systems. Sackstein’s work has helped optimize cell-based therapeutics to regenerate damaged tissue and combat cancer.
