Taxfyle Expands to New Coconut Grove Office

Taxfyle Co-Founders William Sahatdjian, Richard Lavina, Michael Mouriz

After a year of unprecedented growth highlighted by securing $20 million Series B funding, Taxfyle is expanding into a 10,125 square foot office building at 2911 Grand Ave. in Coconut Grove, which will serve as its new headquarters. The move includes the hiring of 70 employees, bringing its team to 109. The on-demand accounting services platform has experienced a 200% growth year over year since 2020. The new office space offers employees call pods, meeting spaces, a recreational area pool table, a ping pong table and retro arcade games.

“As Taxfyle continues to disrupt the accounting and tax space, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our team and the move into a larger office,” Richard Lavina says, Taxfyle co-founder and CEO. “These key hires and our new space will take us to the next level as we continue to grow and transcend the industry.”

Taxfyle was established in 2015 offering an easy-to-use platform that simplified the process of filing personal or business taxes. The company also offers robust B2B solutions — Taxfyle Outsourcing for CPA firms, and Worklayer for the enterprise segment. Among Taxfyle’s clients are a Big Four accounting firm and top 300 CPA firms. It has also formed strategic partnerships with Bench Accounting and Freshbooks to bring a tax-filing component to the two leading bookkeeping platforms in North America.

The new hires will oversee divisions in marketing, human resources, sales and design. The expansive recruiting process also includes promotions from within the company. Taxfyle’s new hires include Brennan Birkinbine as sales director, Tatiana Leon Iriarte as Product Manager and Alfred Guerra as In-House Counsel.

“During the pandemic, thousands of new people were drawn to the Taxfyle app for its virtual, affordable, and convenient tax prep services,” Michael Mouriz says, Taxfyle COO and co-founder. “Our talented team made it one of our best years yet and we look forward to expanding so even more people can rely on our platform and its workforce.”

Taxfyle also ranked in the top 15% on the Inc. 5000 list for two consecutive years.

“We have turned the financial professional services industry into something no one could have imagined,” Will Sahatdjian says, Taxfyle co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. “Our expanded expert team will allow us to continue making these services more accessible to people across the country.”

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
