Lamar P. Fisher is a fourth-generation resident of Broward County, and his great-grandfather signed the articles of incorporation for the City of Pompano Beach in 1908. Fisher began serving his community in 1982 with his involvement in Kiwanis International. He entered the public service arena in 1994 by serving on the City of Pompano Beach Planning and Zoning Board. He was elected to the City Commission in 2002, serving until 2007 when he was elected Mayor-at-Large of Pompano Beach and served through November 2018. In 2018, Fisher was elected to represent County Commission District 4, which includes all or portions of nine municipalities on the east coast of Broward County. As a Commissioner, Fisher has worked collaboratively with city elected officials to make sure the needs of all the residents are being met. In November 2022, his colleagues selected him as Mayor of Broward County. He serves on various boards that span transportation, housing, public safety and more. His goals include affordable housing, finding sensible solutions for homelessness, focusing on transportation solutions, continued beach renourishment and a thriving local economy. Aside from a lengthy career in public service, Fisher serves as the President and CEO of Fisher Auction Company, Inc., a thriving Real Estate Brokerage and Auction Firm located in Pompano Beach, celebrating its 53rd year in business. Fisher’s roots run deep in family, supporting his church and giving back to his community and Broward County.
