Meet Kavaja K. Sarduy, Vice President for Chapman Partnership

A recognized leader in the private, public and nonprofit arenas. Sarduy has extensive experience in Policy Development, Finance, Leading and Coaching Successful teams, Operations Management, Program Development, and Strategic Planning. Kavaja has worked in an Executive leadership capacity for more than 15 years. She is a Master’s Level Professional with a passion for high-level professional development, strategic planning, and programmatic development for successful outcomes. She remains focused on the mission and community during her professional career. After graduating from Bethune Cookman University in 2022, Kavaja started her professional journey within the Human Service discipline. As a Case Manager and Supervisor for Community Partnership for Children, she worked in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was involved with the programmatic development and monitoring of the first Florida Dependency Drug Court Program, which provided opportunities and resources for family preservation. Subsequently decreasing the removal of children from their homes and preserving the familial environment. In 2010, she moved back to South Florida and rose to perform the duties of the Family Safety Practice Manager at Childnet in Fort Lauderdale. Successfully managed a department responsible for intakes on all Broward County Dependency cases, Safety Decision Team facilitator, and Dependency judicial services. She transitioned over to Broward County Government as a Human Service Manager, working with the Homeless Continuum of Care lead agency. Managing a budget of 30 million in funding allocation for the community through the public solicitation procurement process. She has a vast knowledge of grant writing, contracts, finance, monitoring and auditing. She managed existing programs, created new programs, and provided support and guidance to community and nonprofit organizations. Currently, Kavaja maintains the role of Vice President for Chapman Partnership in Miami, responsible for two facilities. She provides leadership and coaching to Senior Mid-Level professionals and is responsible for operations, staff development, and programmatic services. She has a tremendous focus on professional staff development. She is a Certified Strengths Coach, providing evidence-based support to managers and supervisors. She is also certified in the Six Sigma data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process. Kavaja was raised in the South Florida area and is well-connected in both Miami-Dade and Broward County. When Kavaja is not working, she enjoys spending time loving and grooming her kids for success. Her children are very involved with community and school organizations. However, her most enjoyable experience comes when riding her motorcycle and enjoying the adrenaline that helps relieve stress.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
