CITY Furniture Holds Third Annual Green CITY Summit 

The event ended with a vendor showcase, cocktail and awards reception for all attendees.

CITY Furniture, a family-owned furniture and mattress retailer based in South Florida, held the Third Annual Green CITY Summit at its headquarters in Tamarac to unveil its corporate sustainability strategy and building green facilities. The summit brought together industry leaders, sustainability experts and innovators for insightful discussions on global warming, business impacts, corporate sustainability strategy implementation and constructing environmentally friendly facilities.

Recognized as one of America’s Top 100 furniture retailers, CITY Furniture also provided an update on its ambitious ‘2040 Green Promise’ to achieve carbon neutrality and zero waste to landfill by 2040, demonstrating its commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on the environment for a more sustainable future.

Distinguished guests in attendance at the Green CITY Summit were Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture; Andrew Koenig, CEO of CITY Furniture; Jason Lee, CEO of HeatGuardian & SmartCone Technologies; Dr. Colin Polsky, Associate Vice President, Broward Campuses, and Professor of Geosciences at FAU; Jason Grant, Manager at World Wildlife Fund; Jameson Dion, Vice President of Global Sourcing at CITY Furniture; Cynthia Miller, Director of Health, Safety & Environment at the Miami Dolphins; Michael Prairie, Director of Sustainability & Business Operations at the Florida Panthers; Zach Ruiz, Sustainability Manager at the Miami HEAT; and Jaap Donath, Assistant Executive Director of Programs at the Alan B. “We created the Green CITY Summit to bring together the best local leaders, companies, and innovators to share knowledge and inspire others to drive sustainability,” Koenig says. “Our 2040 Green Promise is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. Through our green fleets, energy-efficient buildings, and recycling efforts, we aim to minimize our environmental impact. This Summit is about connecting, learning, and sharing our journey towards these goals.”

Guests were also able to witness CITY Furniture’s cutting-edge facilities, environmentally friendly fleet, and energy-efficient showroom, gaining firsthand insight into the company’s dedication to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. The Vendor Showcase included organizations such as the Museum of Discovery & Science, City Electric Supply, Choice Waste, Filthy Organics, FPL, FAU, Habitat for Humanity of Broward, Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition, and Ascendance Sustainable Events.

The 2024 Awards recipients were:
