Elegance and Fine Dining Awaits at Casa Matilda in Miami Beach

The female-owned restaurant blends great steaks with inventive Mexican-inspired dishes.

At times, one needs a dining experience that glows with elegance. To get this experience, one needs to step into a place that’s unforgettable and full of class. When it comes to feeling pampered at a restaurant, the ambiance should feel like it’s not just a place to gather and enjoy great food and drinks with others. It needs to feel magical and like a great escape from the outside world. Casa Matilda in Miami Beach is that type of place. It’s an environment where visitors will not only find themselves immersed in a gorgeous dining room right out of your favorite fairytale, but they will indulge in some of the best dishes and cocktails that you could ever find in the bustling area of South Beach.

The décor is impressive and modern, mixing pieces that celebrate Mexican heritage. It also features plush seating and deep, lush colors that will envelop you in elegance.

Casa Matilda is a female-owned Mexican steakhouse that blends great steaks with inventive Mexican-inspired dishes. It is owned by Kathia Joseph, who also owns Matilda’s Taco Bar next door, a Miami Beach staple offering classic Mexican dishes.

The menu is as unexpected as it is perfect, and it’s unique. During the meal, one can celebrate with a bottle of expert-selected wine and a multi-course meal. It’s the type of place where you forget it all and immerse yourself in a forest-inspired and glittering hideaway.

The food at Casa Matilda includes mouthwatering Mediterranean flavors and a focus on prime-cut meats. We recommend trying out a few dishes to share with your party; that way, you can explore everything the restaurant offers and leave pleased that you took the culinary journey.

In Casa Matilda, diners will be met with an inspired menu that offers something for every palate, craving, and taste. Their signature dishes pair well with the fancy environment, presented beautifully and prepared with love.

During our visit, we were impressed with the vast selection of dishes. Their signature dishes feature expertly crafted flavors, and we had the chance to indulge in an out-of-this-world dining experience.

During our journey, we began with a signature cocktail from the bar, where expert mixologists carefully mix flavors and spirits. Think of spirits such as mezcal, tequila and vodka, all in harmony with distinct ingredients sure to please the pickiest cocktail enthusiasts. The selection of wine and champagne and spirits is extensive, and the knowledgeable and caring staff take their time to make sure you pair the perfect drink from the start to the end of your meal.

Casa Matilda Cocktails

This might be a tough feat, given that their signature tequila cocktails are as refreshing as they are creative. And when it comes to wine, you will have a selection of over 120 options to choose from, all meant to be enjoyed as you take your time dining in a room that shines with elegant décor and vibrance.

As for the signature dishes, I recommend digging into their Yucatan-style Mexican Ceviche, Duck Carnitas Tacos, Oaxaca Crab Enchiladas, Prime Bone in Ribeye, USDA Prime Dry-Aged Porterhouse, and Grilled Mediterranean Butterfly Branzino. All of them, and many more on the menu, are mouthwatering selections to relish in and enjoy.

Casa Matilda

Take your time when you dine because you will want to enjoy the environment that feels like an event from day to night when Casa Matilda evolves into a nightclub-type supper club. The space also offers the chance to book private events for those who want to take it over for something special.

Make sure to visit this haven of upscale dining and elegance located in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood, a place that perfectly fits in with the stylish feel of the area. You won’t regret it.

Casa Matilda is now open daily for lunchtime from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., dinner from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., and cocktails until 2 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday. For more information and to book reservations, visit casamatildasteakhouse.com.

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
