Emeril Lagasse Foundation Innovation Kitchen in Broward Hosts Culinary Fundraisers

Three chef experiences in May await.

Diners in South Florida can enjoy a variety of delightful culinary experiences at the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Innovation Kitchen at Arc Broward in May. From a lively taco-and-tequila-themed dinner in honor of Cinco de Mayo to a flavorful barbecue and a multi-course gourmet feast, visitors can indulge in a range of culinary delights while supporting Arc Culinary’s goal of using the culinary arts to improve the lives of students with disabilities.

“At Arc Culinary’s exceptional Chef Experiences, guests can savor some of South Florida’s best food prepared by talented chefs in an incredible setting while making a real difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities,” Julie Price says, CEO of Arc Broward. “You won’t find another dining experience quite like it – one that feeds the soul and transforms lives while you dine.”

The upcoming Tacos & Tequila Fiesta at 7 p.m. on May 3, just in time for Cinco de Mayo, will showcase a four-course menu featuring the flavors of Mexico. The menu will include red lentil tacos wrapped in a fresh yuca tortilla, a vegan option served with creamy guacamole and a sprinkle of house-made toasted chocolo powder. The taco pollo al pastor, made with succulent grilled chicken, onions, cilantro, and grilled pineapple nestled in a soft corn tortilla, will also be available. Another option is the taco de birria served with rich birria consomme, onions, and melted cheese. The dessert trio will feature concha, flan, and lime paleta. The menu will also have tequila-based drinks to pair with each course.

The Memphis Style BBQ Bash, held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17, offers a head start on barbecue season. It features four mouth-watering courses, including Southern Comfort barbecue, pulled pork sliders with blue cheese and jalapeno slaw and onion rings, smokey Memphis-style barbecue chicken with creamy mac and cheese, Memphis-style barbecue ribs served with Southern cheesy grits and Southern peach shortcake oatmeal crumble. The event includes alcoholic beverages.

The month concludes with a Gastronomic Adventure at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30. The event includes a Caesar salad with house-made Caesar dressing, fresh baked garlic croutons, and parmesan as the first course, followed by mussels, scallops, and calamari prepared in a delicate broth of coconut and saffron. The main course consists of a roasted rack of lamb served with purple potato mash and crispy fried Brussels sprouts with rum-infused almonds. Finally, a dessert course featuring tropical fruit gateau will be served. The event also offers wine as part of the package.

Arc Culinary’s Emeril Lagasse Foundation Innovation Kitchen is a hidden gem in Sunrise that blends mid-century classics and modern elegance. The kitchen boasts a Chef’s Table, a living plant wall, sophisticated seating, refined decor and lighting, a movable glass wall, and an outdoor patio. The venue provides chef experiences, cooking classes, private events, and off-site catering services.

Drew Limsky

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
