WHO: Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) and Sec. John Kerry: 68th U.S. Secretary of State (2013-2017), Sec. Michael R. Pompeo: 70th U.S. Secretary of State (2018-2021), former Director of the CIA (2017-2018) and former U.S. Senator George LeMieux (2009-2011)
• John Kerry served as the 68th U.S. Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017, and from 2021-2024 he served as Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, the first-ever Principal to sit on the National Security Council entirely dedicated to the climate crisis. As Secretary of State, his diplomatic efforts were pivotal in landmark agreements on nuclear non-proliferation, peace-making, coalition-building to combat radical extremism and elevate global environmental cooperation. He was elected to five terms in the U.S. Senate and served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. A decorated U.S. Navy combat veteran, Kerry was awarded a Silver Star, Bronze Star with Combat V and three Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2024, and in 2025 he received a knighthood from King Charles III.
• Michael R. Pompeo served as the 70th U.S. Secretary of State from 2018-2021, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2017-2018, and a four-term Congressman from Kansas. He graduated first in his class from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. A former U.S. Army cavalry officer, Pompeo later led manufacturing businesses before entering public service. As Secretary of State, he helped shape U.S. foreign policy grounded in America’s founding principles, advancing national security, religious freedom and global diplomacy, including supporting peace efforts in the Middle East through the Abraham Accords. He currently serves as a partner in Niobrara Investment Partners, is of counsel at Torridon Law and chairs the Helms School of Government at Liberty University.
• George LeMieux served as U.S. Senator from 2009-2011, is the founder and namesake of the LeMieux Center for Public Policy at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he champions its mission to promote reasoned, civil discourse on today’s most pressing public policy issues.

• The LeMieux Center for Public Policy at PBA provides a space for reasoned, thoughtful and civil discourse on pressing public policy issues confronting Florida, the United States and the world. Students and community members will learn directly from esteemed policy experts and global thought leaders from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
