Philanthropists and community leaders Marilyn Simon Weinberg & Jay Weinberg have partnered with American Friends of Tel Aviv University to host a benefit in support of Tel Aviv University’s law clinics that provide pro-bono legal services to Holocaust survivors and, most recently, Israeli citizens affected by the October 7th attack on Israel.
The NEVER AGAIN IS NOW benefit will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Boca Raton and will feature a screening of an interview a of Holocaust survivor from the documentary series The Last Ones telling their stories. A panel discussion with Anita Karl, a Holocaust survivor; Professor Yishai Blank, Dean of Tel Aviv University’s law school; and Nava Dushi, Ph.D., professor of Film and Media Studies, Lynn University’s College of Communication and Design, and TAU alumnus; will follow the screening.
“I have made it my life’s work to support education and to share stories of Jewish struggles so that we never forget,” said Marilyn Simon. “The opportunity to bring together a survivor of the Holocaust with a new generation that is experiencing unprecedented antisemitism is something that Jay and I feel passionate about. We are proud to partner with Tel Aviv University to raise awareness and funds for the University’s law clinics that provide services to both of these populations.”
Tel Aviv University’s law clinics provide practical legal education and pro bono services to several groups, including Holocaust survivors promoting human rights and social change. Following the October 7 attacks, the law clinics established “The Network,” which aids victims in the south who were most affected by the attacks and ensuing war. Attorneys work with students to provide legal services for families who face issues such as ongoing damage to their homes and businesses and securing government benefits.
Marilyn and Jay Weinberg are philanthropists and community leaders who have generously supported many programs in education including Holocaust and human rights education, scholarships, and Jewish Studies.
