Gulf Building LLC completed construction of the new L.A. Lee YMCA Mizell Community Center for YMCA of South Florida at 1409 NW Sistrunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. The four-story, 70,000-square-foot mixed-use building, includes ground-floor stores along Sistrunk Boulevard, an outdoor swimming pool for community swim lessons and a rooftop terrace. The building’s second and third floors are dedicated to wellness and fitness activities, featuring an indoor basketball court and gymnasium, locker rooms, a black-box theater, a youth zone, offices and support space. Broward College will use the fourth floor for classrooms, labs, and meeting spaces that promote educational goals, including general academic development degrees and college-entry preparation.
“As a 30-year-old local firm headquartered just a few blocks away from the new center, Gulf is extremely pleased to have been part of this amazing project which brings important programs and services to the local community,” John Scherer says, president and CEO at Gulf Building.
