During his tenure there, he recruited more than 150 physicians, co-led the transition of the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency to internal oversight, transitioned the employed hospitalist program to a value-based model, facilitated top decile divisional employee engagement and transitioned more than 700 physicians to telehealth in the midst of COVID-19. He was also Regional Chief Operating and Business Development Officer for Chicago-based Presence Health (Ascension) where his leadership resulted in the developments of the Presence Center for Cancer and Specialty Care, the Presence Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Care and Presence Pain Care. In addition, Pierce worked at San Diego-based Palomar Health (Mayo Care Network) and the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
