Innovative Mental Health Brand Opens in Coral Gables

Ellie Mental Health, a franchise focused on making quality mental health services more accessible, continued its national expansion by opening its first location in Coral Gables to provide innovative mental health care services for all ages. The Coral Gables clinic is located at 1533 Sunset Dr, Suite 225.

Local owner Nicholas Machado developed a passion for helping others through his own journey with mental health. Growing up gay in a family that was fractured by a messy divorce and other childhood experiences, there were multiple points in his life where he had to focus on his mental health to deal with personal and relationship issues. When he set out to open a business, Machado’s own experience and combination of the brand’s mission, culture and values made Ellie Mental Health extremely appealing.

“I’m most excited about helping underserved families with reconciliation and counseling, people working through addiction issues, and LGBTQ+ issues in my community,” Machado says. “All of these issues have touched my life in some way and I’d be grateful to help others overcome them as I have been helped throughout my life.”

Coming from a lengthy entrepreneurship background, Machado plans to hire from a broad base of mental health experience to be able to provide help for a diverse variety. Additionally, the location’s proximity to several schools and hospitals presents a unique opportunity for partnership and to assist the community’s younger population.

“There’s a critical need for young people these days now that social media and time spent on screens is at its highest,” Machado says. “Now, there’s a crisis of all sorts of new anxieties that didn’t exist previously that our younger generation has to face.”

The services Ellie Mental Health provides include online or in-person therapy for individuals and families and couples counseling. The brand offers various types of treatment, including play, grief, trauma-informed, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). It provides a quick turnaround time for matching clients with highly-qualified clinicians that best suit their needs. Each location is run by entrepreneurs who have a personal connection to mental health and are passionate about providing safe and welcoming environments to ensure clients feel comfortable during their sessions, whether they are in-person or telehealth.

“We are confident that Nicholas’s entrepreneurial background and deep passion for helping others make him the ideal person to open our newest location,” Chris Pash says, Senior Vice President of Growth and Development at Ellie Mental Health. “Our main goal with Ellie Mental Health is to provide valuable assistance for local communities’ mental health journeys, and we know Nicholas will share that passion with the Coral Gables community.”
