JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa’s Tidal Cove Waterpark Marks Five-Year Milestone

The June 1 event will feature all-day festivities and giveaways at the premier water park.

Located within the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura, Tidal Cove Waterpark is celebrating its fifth anniversary with entertainment and activities during a summer kick-off event on June 1. The outdoor recreation and entertainment venue opened in 2019 and has since won multiple awards for its state-of-the-art facilities, including the first-ever FlowRider Triple facility in the nation. Guests and members can enjoy three surfing areas 42 feet wide, a Lazy River, a Water Slide Tower featuring seven slide experiences, private cabanas, poolside dining, and much more.

“Tidal Cove has been a popular and beloved destination in and of itself since opening as part of the property’s $300 million renovation five years ago,” says JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa Vice President and General Manager Shane Allor. “A favorite amenity for our hotel guests and members, Tidal Cove has also become a community destination for South Florida, and we’re excited to kick off this incredible celebration of its first five years!”

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the June 1 event will be a day filled with fun and excitement. Guests can look forward to an abundance of party favors and decorations, including limited edition Tidal Cove floats. The festivities will also include all-day entertainment, with live broadcasting by DJ Drew from Miami and DJ Amelia from a specific plate number. iHeart Radio will be present throughout the day, offering merchandise and prizes, such as Tidal Cove tickets for future visits, food and drinks, and experiential offerings from select partners at the water park. Additionally, Vacation Sunscreen will sponsor a sunscreen station where guests can sample fashionable new sunscreens like Classic Whip SPF. Maui Jim sunglasses will also be available, showcasing new sunglass models and distributing fun handouts to guests.

The 4,000-square-foot separated family-friendly “Kids Cove” poolscape and play structure is designed to entertain younger children at the park, while seven water slides, including the Aqua Drop, cater to thrillseekers of all ages. The Aqua Drop provides a thrilling vertical drop experience with its disappearing floor. The first-ever FlowRider® Triple surf & bodyboard simulator in the nation is a major attraction for riders and spectators, operated by local surf pros. Tidal Cove will also host a bodyboarding contest organized by iHeart Radio, with prizes awarded to the top three winners, adding to the excitement of the park.

The event will feature Teddy, the Tidal Cove Mascot, for meet-and-greets, along with various other activities, such as âme Jr. Spa offering poolside spa services all day, face painting, hair braiding, a petting zoo, a bounce house, and a special Kids Cove DJ playing music from 11 a.m. onwards.

Tidal Cove will offer 25 private luxury cabanas and an adults-only VIP section for guests who want a more exclusive sunbathing experience. Interested guests can enjoy Hampton Water Rosé and Ketel One Botanical Vodka samples, along with other goodies, and take advantage of a $5 Happy Hour Drink Special, which starts at 5 p.m.

Visitors to the location can enjoy the Surf House Bar & Grill or Freestyle restaurants and the recently introduced Toasty Tides food truck, which offers all-day food options such as homemade gelato. The Tidal Cove retail store is open all day and sells aqua-related accessories, clothing, and other useful items.

Earlybird pricing on tickets starts at $95 per person, plus upgraded experiences are available including VIP decorated cabanas featuring enhanced service and features. Tidal Cove is located at 19999 W Country Club Dr.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
