Migration to Florida Continues Unabated

Which South Florida city saw the most inbound moves? We keep hearing about Austin's popularity, but apparently, Austin has nothing on Miami—and Texas is chasing Florida. We have the receipts.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2021 and 2022, 26 states experienced an influx of people, with more people moving in than out, while 25 states lost population. Florida (318,855), Texas (230,961), North Carolina (99,796) and South Carolina (84,030) were the states with the most net domestic migration gains in 2022. Florida was the fastest-growing state in 2022, with an annual population increase of 1.9%. This marked the first time since 1957 that Florida’s population grew faster than any other state. Greater Miami was the No. 1 city for inbound moves between 2019 and 2022.
