Comcast recently opened a new Xfinity store at 165 NW 136th Ave., Sunrise, featuring multiple counters staffed by Xfinity sales consultants, comfortable seating areas and displays that illustrate all the features of Xfinity’s full range of products and services. Customers can also pay bills, get answers to account-related questions and return old equipment or pick up new equipment. The company now has nine Xfinity stores in Broward County and 38 in Florida.

At the start of the year, BurgerFi opened a new location at the Uptown Boca Plaza at 9674 Glades Road, Suite 530. It’s the second Boca location for the South Florida-headquartered company, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and touts itself as the “better burger” brand. The local chain, which serves 100% natural Angus beef burgers, was chosen as QSR Magazine’s Breakout Brand of the Year in 2020.

Late last year, Gulfstream Park Village added four new tenants: CellFix, selling smartphones, smartphone accessories, gaming systems and accessories, speakers and headphones, car chargers, repair parts, and gadgets; PlantEra, offering organically grown CBD products; Rene Ruiz Collection, offering a fashionable mix of old-world craftsmanship and modern glamour by blending Miami’s sultry sexiness with graceful elegance; and Zero Empty Spaces, giving artists and customers a live, working studio to purchase art, collaborate, and commission artwork at affordable prices. Gulfstream is located at 901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach.

In December, Bolay opened a location in Kendall at 8746 Mills Drive in the Palms Town & Country. It’s the 17th location of the fast-casual build-your-own bowl restaurant from restauranteur Chris Gannon and his father, Outback Steakhouse co-founder Tim Gannon. Founded in Wellington in 2016, Bolay offers customers a variety of seasoned proteins and oven-roasted vegetables that can be layered in their “bol” like cilantro noodles and forbidden black rice.

Pizza chain Stoner’s Pizza Joint opened a Davie location in December at 3712 Davie Road. Offering specialty pizzas, calzones, strombolis, sandwiches, and hickory-smoked chicken wings, the chain is known for its commitment to the community. During the pandemic, owner John Stetson donated over 10,000 slices of pizza to students, medical staff, first responders, and families that were food insecure.

The Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables (358 San Lorenzo Ave.) is now home to a Tempur-Pedic location. The 2,400-square-foot space is the company’s third FL-based location (others in Tampa + Boca) and the 73rd location overall.

BOARD30 Studio opened a location in Weston late last year at 16668 Saddle Club Road. The fitness studio franchise provides a full-body resistance band workout offering low impact, high-intensity sessions in just 30 minutes.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
