NSU Broward Center of Innovation (Levan Center) to Host Pitch Night Event

To help introduce aspiring businesses to its ‘Incubate’ Program while highlighting innovative companies needing investment, the Alan B Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation is hosting a Pitch Night event. The program begins at 4 p.m. on April 25 at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd, Fifth Floor in Fort Lauderdale and will help provide the pitching organizations with exposure to potential customers, investors and community members.

The Levan Center’s ‘Incubate’ Program is a six-week course that allows entrepreneurs who have a tested minimum viable product (MVP) and a clear customer base to continue through the growth stage of business development. The participating organizations utilize various wraparound services and labs at the Levan Center to continue the advancement of their business proposition. The focus areas of the ‘Incubate’ program include Rapid Prototyping, Commercialization and Funding Structure.

Five of the resident ‘Incubate’ program participants will present their projects to a panel of judges during the Pitch Night event. The five presenting organizations include:

HERBY (Manufacturing / Cannabis): Herby simplifies herbal extraction. The first of its kind, Herby’s closed-loop, one-touch system combines patent-pending ultrasonic and ethanol extraction methods into one user-friendly, countertop-sized appliance.

SHOW AGENTS (Technology / Real Estate): Show Agents is a mobile platform that connects overbooked realtors to local showing assistants, enabling them to skip showing appointments but keep the commission.

CAPITAL POCKET CORP (FinTech): The Capital Pocket app will simplify day-to-day financial transactions for immigrants in the U.S. and Latin American customers by deploying options and services that involve new technologies (AR+MR) to better transact and consume information.

ATHLETE SENSE (Sport Technology): Athlete Sense is a small, mobile, motion-tracking wearable that easily attaches to any piece of hockey equipment. It converts physical play into digital and audio data streams for performance improvement and player safety motion tracking.

CYZL (Technology / Social Media): CYZL is a real-time guide to what’s hot nearby. Designed to help users “get out there” with confidence, CYZL gives users the insider’s scoop on the scene, the crowd, wait times and more at local area hot spots.

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
