Stubborn Seed and Shingo Collaborate for Exclusive Dinner Featuring Michelin-Starred Cuisine

The 10-course dining experience will occur at Stubborn Seed on Monday, Sept. 23.

Miami’s renowned Michelin-starred restaurants, SHINGO and Stubborn Seed, will join forces for an exclusive one-night dining event on Monday, Sept. 23. The collaborative 10-course dinner will showcase a fusion of culinary creations from chefs Jeremy Ford and Shingo Akikuni, along with their skilled culinary teams. Priced at $295 per person, the seated collaboration dinner will take place at Stubborn Seed, and reservations can be made on OpenTable for seating between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

During the collaboration dinner, Ford and Akikuni will come together to curate a 10-course tasting menu highlighting their distinct culinary styles. Chef Ford will utilize freshly sourced ingredients from his farm, Ford’s Farm, based in Homestead, to create dishes in collaboration with Chef Akikuni. The menu will include delectable items such as Sake and citrus-cured Japanese Yellowtail Crudo, Binchotan Grilled Unagi Kabayaki, 48-hour Pork Belly and Caviar, and Chicken Nanban Sando.

Kaori Yoshioka, the Head Sommelier at SHINGO, will curate wine and sake pairings tailored to complement the dishes. The evening will also feature cocktails crafted by Jackie Rey, the Head Bartender at Stubborn Seed. Ana De Sa Martins, the Executive Pastry Chef at Stubborn Seed, will prepare exquisite desserts.

In May 2023, Chef Shingo Akikuni founded SHINGO, a 14-seat omakase restaurant in Coral Gables. Since its establishment, SHINGO has earned high praise and acclaim for its exceptional omakase menu, top-quality ingredients, and thoughtfully curated beverage pairings. Impressively, within less than a year of its opening, in 2024, the restaurant was awarded One Star by the MICHELIN Guide.

Stubborn Seed, founded by Top Chef champion Jeremy Ford, is nearing its seventh year in Miami Beach. As a part of the Grove Bay Hospitality Group, this beloved South of Fifth restaurant has proudly maintained a One Star rating from the MICHELIN Guide for the last three years. The continued prosperity of Stubborn Seed is a testament to the dedicated team of remarkably talented individuals who prioritize exceptional hospitality. Stubborn Seed is situated at 101 Washington Ave. in Miami Beach.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
