Visit Lauderdale Hosts First Tourism Partnership Summit

It is the official destination marketing organization for Greater Fort Lauderdale.

The inaugural Sun, Sand, and Synergy Tourism Partnership Summit provided local Greater Fort Lauderdale businesses with the tools to maximize the region’s tourism potential. Visit Lauderdale hosted the event at the Broward County Convention Center earlier this month. It marked a significant achievement for the tourism industry in the region as Visit Lauderdale welcomed over 250 business professionals to network and discover strategies for leveraging tourist revenue streams.

The half-day event was filled with insightful panel discussions and presentations, offering attendees valuable perspectives on the current trends, challenges, and opportunities in the tourism industry. The strong attendance highlights the increasing local interest and investment in the tourism sector of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Some of the key points emphasized during the event included:

  • Visit Lauderdale’s collaborations with hotels, restaurants, attractions, and small businesses are crucial for the region’s tourism industry.
  • Greater Fort Lauderdale generated over $125 million in tourist revenue in 2023.
  • In 2023, more than 32 million travelers arrived at Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
  • The demand for hotels has increased by 3% compared to last year, and there are plans for three new hotels with a total of 394 rooms in 2024.
  • Inclusive travel is a significant distinguishing factor for Visit Lauderdale.
  • In 2023, nearly three million LGBT+ travelers visited Greater Fort Lauderdale, contributing approximately $1.3 billion to the local economy.

Visit Lauderdale is inviting the business community to the next partner event, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. The event will provide opportunities to explore more ways to engage with the Visit Lauderdale team.
