Scenic Group Unveils 2023 Impact Report

The report highlights the luxury cruise group’s “Cherish the Planet” global initiative.

As Scenic Group continues to lead in small-ship river and ocean cruising, the company has recently released its 2023 Impact Report, which outlines its worldwide ESG commitments related to the Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects. As a pioneer in the luxury cruise and tour industry, Scenic Group has made significant strides in environmental innovation and social responsibility and inspired change globally, which aligns with its Cherish the Planet platform and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

“At Scenic Group, we balance ultra-luxury travel with environmental stewardship,” Glen Moroney says, Founder and Chairman of Scenic Group. “We understand that responsible practices are crucial not just for safeguarding the world in which we live but also for ensuring that we can continue to bring our guests to some of the most extraordinary places on earth. Our commitment to sustainability secures the future of transformative travel and is critical to our dynamic growth strategy.”

The 2023 Impact Report unveiled a 95% reduction in the use of single-use plastics across the Scenic Group fleet, a tangible result of our commitment to sustainability. The organization has also invested in advanced ship design to safeguard the sea floor and introduced progressive water treatment systems to eliminate invasive species. Additionally, they have launched the ‘Cherish the Planet’ menu, which emphasizes locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. To promote community engagement globally, the ‘Cherish the Planet’ Sustainable Touring Inclusion Program has been created, further demonstrating our dedication to making a positive impact.

“Our strategic approach not only focuses on operational enhancements but also on deepening our connections with the communities we visit,” Phil Jordan says, Director of Sustainability for Scenic Group. “From sustainable sourcing to engaging in meaningful cultural exchanges, every action is aimed at preserving the world’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations.”

The report positions Scenic Group as a key player in the global sustainable tourism movement, providing travelers with a luxurious and responsible way to experience the world. The entire 2023 Impact Report can be found here.

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
