Maria Ruiz is currently the Vice President of Human Resources at United Way of Broward County. For the past five years, she has led all human resources operations, talent acquisition, benefits administration, organizational development and learning, culture, and internal communications for the organization. As a member of the senior leadership team, she works closely with the executive team to align all related activities for human resources with the overall objectives of the organization. She is responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing HR strategies as well as solving complex issues that affect the diverse employees at United Way of Broward County. She has a warm, accessible approach to her work, her organization and its employees, and she has built a reputation as a trusted, knowledgeable HR professional in her industry. Ruiz has assisted in increasing the organization’s headcount by 30% while helping strengthen and advance the company’s strategic market position and its strong success in overcoming talent and business challenges. Ruiz began her career over 16 years ago by supporting HR operations for organizations in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. She takes pride in making a strong impact on Broward County and the people who live in this community.
