Excel Construction of Florida Hosts Holiday Lunch for Humane Society of Broward County

The construction company has a diversified portfolio of industrial, Class A, commercial, manufacturing, distribution and retail projects.

Employees at the Humane Society of Broward County were recently treated to a festive Thanksgiving lunch by Excel Construction of Florida. The Excel team served the nonprofit’s compassionate and dedicated volunteers and staff, numbering 60 in total, a delicious feast from Doris’s Italian Market & Bakery. The tasty and fun holiday gathering included a basket of turkey-flavored dog treats for the adoptable animals to make the occasion even more special.

“We are so grateful to the many nonprofits that play a vital role in the health of our community and to those volunteers who share their time and resources to make an impact, simply out of love for a cause,” Eric Wolf says, president of Excel Construction of Florida. “It’s so important that local businesses give back and show recognition for a job well done. The Humane Society of Broward County is an incredible organization that unites families and pets through education, health services and advocacy. We wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you and express our gratitude.”

Excel Construction of Florida prioritizes community engagement and philanthropy. Its mission is to “Stand for What Counts,” and it allocates funding each year to support education, children, families, and the environment. It sponsors nonprofits and participates in civic initiatives by donating their time. Excel Construction supports several organizations, including the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club in Riviera Beach, FLITE Center, the Stranahan House, Broward Education Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.

“The Humane Society of Broward County staff and volunteers were extremely grateful to Excel Construction of Florida to have been chosen as the recipient of their kindness,” Cherie Wachter says, vice president of marketing at the Humane Society of Broward County. “There are many worthy nonprofit organizations in our community, and everyone was humbled by this honor. The fact that the animals were also included to enjoy some lunchtime treats made for an extra special day.”

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
