Broward Behavioral Health Coalition (BBHC) and its community partners recently held a “Connection Between Art and Mental Well-Being” Panel Discussion at the Studio 18 Art Complex in Pembroke Pines. The event also marked the closure of the National Art Exhibitions by the Mentally Ill (NAEMI) 35th Anniversary Art Exhibition. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the NAEMI Art Exhibition, featuring works by internationally acclaimed artists such as Echo McCallister, Ramon Losa, Jorge Alberto Cadi, Hector Gallo, and Sebastian Ferreira, while enjoying light refreshments.
After the guests explored the exhibition, the panel discussion on the “Connection Between Art and Mental Well-Being” commenced. Distinguished panelists, including Silvia Quintana, CEO of Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; Senator and Mayor of Broward County Nan Rich, Board Chair of Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; and Susan Nyamora, CEO of South Florida Wellness Network, shared profound insights into the relationship between art and mental well-being. They discussed how artistic expression serves as a catalyst for healing and self-discovery.
The event’s community partners comprised National Art Exhibitions by the Mentally Ill (NAEMI), South Florida Wellness Network, Studio 18 Art Complex, National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Pembroke Pines, Florida Arts & Culture, Sunshine Health, Broward County Cultural Division, United Way of Broward County, and Janssen.
Broward Behavioral Health Coalition is committed to eradicating the stigma around mental healthcare and establishing a unified, thorough, and adaptable care system in Broward County.
