Dr. David W. Moskowitz Assists Patient in Avoiding Dialysis and Regaining Control of Her Life

The doctor has dedicated his career to helping patients avoid dialysis and live healthier, fuller lives.

Alice’s battle with chronic kidney disease (CKD) began almost twenty years ago, and her journey has been defined by resilience and optimism. At 80 years old, she is now sharing her incredible recovery story, thanks to the care provided by Dr. David W. Moskowitz, MD, MA(Oxon.), FACP, an esteemed nephrologist, internist, and the CEO and Chief Medical Officer of GenoMed, Inc., a medical research company that focuses on developing treatments to prevent and reverse the progression of chronic diseases. Since receiving a diagnosis of kidney failure in 2005, Alice has faced numerous ineffective treatments and a decline in her health until receiving treatment from Dr. Moskowitz.

She explains that she spent years seeking alternatives to dialysis, firmly believing that she didn’t want to depend on a machine. Additionally, in 2017, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer and received a recommendation from doctors to undergo the removal of one of her kidneys. Her unwavering determination to find an alternative to surgery ultimately rescued her.

Alice didn’t contact Dr. Moskowitz until 2018 when she read the book How to Avoid Dialysis and Cure Kidney Disease, written by one of his patients. Despite her severely impaired kidney function, Dr. Moskowitz was initially hesitant to take her on, but Alice persisted.

“He agreed to work with me and I’m so glad he did,” she says.

Dr. Moskowitz helped stabilize her kidney function within months. By 2019, her condition had improved to the point where Dr. Moskowitz recommended ending their consultations. For the first time in years, Alice felt confident in managing her health on her own.

Dr. Moskowitz, an innovator in the medical industry, has provided personalized care to many patients, including Alice, helping them steer clear of dialysis. His groundbreaking method involves modifying medications based on immediate lab results, empowering patients to take charge of their lives. As the CEO & Chief Medical Officer of GenoMed, Inc., Dr. Moskowitz spearheads a company committed to uncovering therapies that prevent and treat kidney disease and other long-term ailments.

Alice’s perseverance is more than just overcoming a medical challenge; it’s a tale of personal victory. Just before turning 80, Alice succeeded in numerous dance competitions, earning herself a Championship Medal at the Sapphire Dance Sport event in Round Rock, Texas. Dr. Moskowitz’s expertise and compassionate care are what she credits for enabling her to maintain a fulfilling life.

“I owe Dr. Moskowitz my deepest gratitude,” Alice says. “He didn’t just give me medical care—he gave me my life back.”

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
