Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance announces fiscal year accomplishments

More than 300 business leaders attended the virtual annual meeting of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Annual Meeting last week.

At the meeting, produced at the Signature Grand in Davie by the Alliance, Signature Grand and PSAV, the public-private partnership updated businesses on the 2019-2020 fiscal year. During that time, the alliance assisted businesses in creating 1,072 new high-value jobs, retaining 913 jobs and securing more than $353 million in new capital investment. These companies include Amazon in Pompano Beach (125 new jobs and $32 million investment); Bankers Healthcare Group in Miramar (220 jobs and $42 million); Shiji in Hollywood (70 jobs); Spirit Airlines in Dania Beach (225 jobs and $250 million investment); Publix in Deerfield Beach (265 new jobs and $23.4 million investment); and Accilerate in Sunrise (50 new jobs and $3.6 million investment). These businesses were a few of the 350 that received services from the alliance during the year.

Other announcements included the following:

  • KeySource Pharma will add 50 new jobs at an 8,000-square foot sales and logistics office in Fort Lauderdale’s Cypress Creek office.
  • According to an independent study by the South Florida Regional Planning Council, the alliance, CareerSource Broward and the county helped create or retain more than 38,000 direct jobs over the past 24 years, generating more than 77,000 jobs and resulting in $2.9 billion in annual personal income and $15.1 billion in annual economic impact.
  • The alliance’s honored six people with its annual economic development leadership awards to recognize their work in the community helping to grow jobs and strengthen the economy: Matthew Caldwell, Florida Panthers (presented by the CEO Council); Sandy-Michael McDonald, Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (presented by the Governor Council); Kate Goldman, Baptist Health South Florida (presented by the Leadership Council); Marissa Kelley, Lewis Brisbois (presented by Corporate Council); Melissa Milroy, Galleria Fort Lauderdale (presented by the Entrepreneurship Council); and Sandra Veszi Einhorm, Coordinating Council of Broward (presented by the Partner Council).
