Conrad Simpfendorfer, MD, is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he completed his undergraduate education. He then earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Simpfendorfer carried out his post-graduate training exclusively at Cleveland Clinic. He participated in both an internship and residency in general surgery and in two fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and pancreatic, hepatobiliary surgery. In 2006, Dr. Simpfendorfer joined Cleveland Clinic Florida as a board-certified surgeon and expert in liver and pancreas surgeries. He was brought here to start their hepatobiliary program after developing a successful practice in Ohio. Dr. Simpfendorfer is an expert at liver and pancreas surgeries, HIPEC, radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors, and is an expert in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

How did the pandemic disrupt your specific role in the healthcare industry, and how did you adapt? Due to the fact that I am primarily a cancer surgeon who does nonelective surgeries, it had minimal impact on my practice. The only way it impacted me was that people had fewer cancer screenings and unfortunately, some surgeries had to be delayed if a patient had COVID-19.
