BankUnited and Miami HEAT Charitable Fund to Award $25,000 in College Scholarships

South Florida high school seniors can now apply to win one of five $5,000 scholarships to be awarded by The Miami Heat Charitable Fund and BankUnited. Applications must be submitted by Jan. 28 at https://www.nba.com/heat/community/scholarships. In total, $25,000 will be awarded to five South Florida students who demonstrate academic excellence and an outstanding record of community service. Winners will be recognized at an upcoming Miami Heat game.

“BankUnited is thrilled to continue our partnership with the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund in recognizing some of South Florida’s most deserving high school students as they pursue their dreams of a college education,” Lisa Shim says, BankUnited’s Senior Executive Vice President and head of consumer and small business banking. “

South Florida high school seniors currently attending school in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County and who will be enrolling in a four-year accredited college are eligible to apply for one of five scholarships to be awarded: three $5,000 Heat Scholarships, one $5,000 Dr. Jack Ramsay Scholarship and one $5,000 Alec Kessler Student-Athlete Scholarship.

“Each year, our selection committee is pleased to see how students have made time to give back to the South Florida community in meaningful ways while dedicating themselves to academic achievement,” Steve Stowe sats, Vice President and Executive Director of the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund. “With BankUnited’s continued support of the Miami HEAT Scholarship program, we look forward to recognizing new scholarship winners this season and helping them realize their dreams of attending college.”
