Legal Eagles

From August 18-20, Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) handed out a slew of well-deserved 2020 Annual Recognition Awards. The awards were presented during a series of on-line virtual events through the organization’s Facebook pages at facebook.com/CoastToCoastLegalAid and facebook.com/LegalAidBroward.

“The ongoing need for volunteer legal assistance and vital supportive services to the poor and disadvantaged affects the daily life of many people in our community, including veterans, seniors and families,” said Sherylle Francis, Esq., chair of the LAS/CCLA board of directors. “These awards honor those who recognize that need and have committed themselves to serving the community.” The Attorney of the Year Award was presented to Edward O’Sheehan, Esq., a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen LLP (pictured above), while Law Firm of the Year was awarded to Kelley Kronenberg, Attorneys at Law and accepted by Jeff Wank, Esq.

During the series of online virtual events, thousands of legal professionals, community leaders, and friends and families logged on as each honoree received their award and made brief remarks. The annual sponsors of the Legal Aid Programs in Broward included Akerman, LLP; Birnbaum, Lippman & Gregoire, PLLC; Broward County Bar Association; Daily Business Review; Florida Power & Light; Kristen Goss, Esq.; JM Family Enterprises, Inc.; Kelley Kronenberg, Attorneys at Law; Kim Vaughan Lerner LLP; The Quackenbush Law Firm; Jacquelyn and Bruce Rogow; Rosen Injury Law; Setnor Byer Insurance & Risk; Stearns Weaver Miller; Shutts; Valley National Bank; Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, PL.; and Van Horn Law Group (look for upcoming coverage of Chad Van Horn in the pages of SFBW).
