Chicago-based Go Grocer Chooses Fort Lauderdale as First Florida Location

A popular chain designed for walkable neighborhoods is opening at Motif in Fort Lauderdale this fall.

Go Grocer, which is not exactly a grocery store but also more than a convenence mart, has chosen Fort Lauderdale as its first Florida location.

Owner Gerardo Santiago calls Go Grocer a “modern convenience-driven grocery store designed for urban, high-density neighborhoods” and says its locations are strategically placed to serve residents in walkable communities. Since opening its first location in Chicago in 2008, Go Grocer has grown to 20 stores. The Fort Lauderdale location will be located in Motif, a mixed-use, 385-unit apartment building at 500 N. Andrews Ave. that opened five years ago in the Flagler Village neighborhood.

The coming store will span 2,538 square feet. In addition to fresh foods and everyday staples, it will also offer grab-and-go items such as sandwiches and salads, prepared meals, spirits, wine and craft beers. Delivery will be available.
