After starting his career at CITY Furniture in 2006 in the Operations Department unloading furniture onto containers, Andrew Koenig climbed through the corporate ranks and was recently appointed as Chief Executive Officer for the furniture and mattress retailer, which is among America’s top 100 furniture retailers. Koenig worked in nearly every company division and was named president in 2019. As CEO, he will continue to oversee all departments of the company.
One of Koenig’s most significant contributions to the company was when he introduced the concept of Lean Thinking in 2007. The concept entails creating a culture of mutual trust and respect, teamwork and a deep sense of urgency to improve continuously. Since the implementation of Lean, the company has seen a positive change in turnover reduction, operational process improvement, customer experience, safety, associate satisfaction, strategic planning and financial success.
Koenig has also implemented and increased its corporate and social responsibility initiative to become the No. 1 Green Fleet in America through its 2040 Green Promise. He also helped introduce CITY’s 5% giving pledge, which provides at least 5% of net profits to local community initiatives and helped lead a 9% increase in diversity in leadership.
Koenig holds degrees in Finance and Accounting from Elon University in 2005 and received his MBA in Entrepreneurship from Nova Southeastern University – Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
CITY features over 22 showrooms across Florida and an ever-expanding e-commerce site.
