Enjoy a Luxurious Stay at the Kimpton Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami

The property's Area 31 restaurant is located on the 16th floor.

Every person, including locals and visitors to South Florida, should take the time to explore Downtown Miami and its upscale adjacent Brickell area. Its upbeat spirit and lively environment make it the type of place that’s not to be missed, especially if you are seeking unique and upscale experiences in the Miami area. The bustling area of Downtown Miami does not only offer many places to dine, drink, dance, and be entertained, but it’s worth staying at a luxury hotel that will have you right in the heart of Downtown Miami. If you decide to visit, why not just make a day and night out of it, where you can immerse yourself in city life?

As for an impeccable stay, we recommend not just any hotel, but one where you can take in the gorgeous high-rise views, while also taking in the buzzing sounds of the city. This is where the Kimpton Epic Hotel comes into play. It’s the place that you want to pick to feel like royalty and to treat yourself to a grand stay.

The hotel, one that truly represents the perfect blend of a boutique property experience with the high-end sophisticated vibes that come from the energy of being surrounded by high-rise buildings, is one that stands out from the rest.

The Kimpton Epic Hotel does not only feel expansive and magical when you step through its doors to the lobby, but it’s a place where you will be greeted with impeccable service. From the moment you check-in, you will be greeted by a professional and caring staff that makes sure all your needs are met, especially when it comes to a special stay such as this one.

During our recent stay, we were treated to a room on the 29th Floor of the hotel. The balcony and sweeping views of the city, that at times include a perfect view of Biscayne Bay and Brickell Key as boats and revelers inside them curiously explore the expansive causeways. Every room at the hotel offers an expansive balcony with comfortable chairs and a table in between, perfect for taking in the sweeping city views and for snapping some beautiful pictures of the city.

One of my favorite moments during my visit was sipping a glass of wine at night while taking in the city lights, as well as lights from the varied high-rise buildings. It’s also the opportunity to wake up to that specific view that makes the stay so special, as you sip a cup of coffee while slowly waking up in hopes of exploring during the day. Or you may even decide to go for a dip in one of the refreshing roof-top pools. The pools at the hotel are part of the high-end experience at Epic and a treat for those staying on the property.

The Kimpton Epic Hotel’s pools are truly one of a kind. Located on the 16th floor, where the unforgettable restaurant Area 31 is located, it’s a great gathering place for all.

During the day, revelers enjoy the city views while lounging poolside or while nibbling on some delicious fare at Area 31’s pool adjacent bar. Expect extremely fancy, yet homey, fare. This includes selections such as perfectly seasoned Ahi Tuna Tacos, juicy burgers and a variety of apps and dishes sure to pamper any palate. Then, there is the wine list, where you can pick a refreshing Chardonnay or a cool summer favorite such as a rose wine to enjoy. We highly recommend spending time at this poolside bar, which also offers high-top tables with umbrellas where you can sit with your group. Lastly, please do not leave without trying a classic Miami Mojito. The way that the drink is made at the property is perfect, proving that when an inspired bartender and mixologist is passionate about their craft, you will get a high-quality and unforgettable cocktail.

Area 31 is a restaurant that becomes beautifully elegant at night, one that takes their day to night offerings and transformation seriously. When we had a chance to dine at the restaurant for dinner, we were impressed by the upscale and expansive wine list, as well as the way that the servers were very serious about taking your orders and making sure the recommendations for your dining experience were top-notch during your visit. The knowledgeable and talented chef brought out some culinary delights to share such as well-sized and delicious prawns, which were a highlight of our night. The restaurant focuses on healthy, delicious, and fresh fare and is a restaurant that proudly gained a sustainability certification from the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch. We recommend ordering dishes such as their exceptional Burrata, the chef-recommended Tuna Tataki, as well as dishes such as the Lobster Capellini and a Florida Grouper. Expect one of the most high-end restaurant experiences that you’ve ever had at this restaurant, and it’s worth it. One that’s perfect for date night or a special celebration, make sure you visit during your stay or when you are in the city.

Another restaurant option at the hotel is ZUMA, one that is known for their exceptional brunch and Izakaya dining experience. With other restaurants in places like London and Dubai, expect fresh food and exceptional service during your visit.

The hotel also offers a Social Hour daily from 5 to 6 pm, where those staying at the property can enjoy wine and a chance to mingle downstairs at the hotel’s elegant lobby.

With all these experiences and amenities, the Kimpton Epic Hotel was one unforgettable property to visit. Not only is it beautiful and elegant, but its playful spirit is one for the books. The Epic is also closely located to places that we recommend visiting, such as the shopping and dining meccas Bayside Marketplace and Brickell City Centre. Don’t be afraid to take a stroll around the area. We promise you that you will find some exceptional things to do in an area and city meant to offer high-end entertainment and an escape from the ordinary.

His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast.
