Comcast recently opened a new Xfinity store at 165 NW 136th Ave., Sunrise, featuring multiple counters staffed by Xfinity sales consultants, comfortable seating areas and displays that illustrate all the features of Xfinity’s full range of products and services. Customers can also pay bills, get answers to account-related questions and return old equipment or pick up new equipment. The company now has nine Xfinity stores in Broward County and 38 in Florida.
At the start of the year, BurgerFi opened a new location at the Uptown Boca Plaza at 9674 Glades Road, Suite 530. It’s the second Boca location for the South Florida-headquartered company, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and touts itself as the “better burger” brand. The local chain, which serves 100% natural Angus beef burgers, was chosen as QSR Magazine’s Breakout Brand of the Year in 2020.
Late last year, Gulfstream Park Village added four new tenants: CellFix, selling smartphones, smartphone accessories, gaming systems and accessories, speakers and headphones, car chargers, repair parts, and gadgets; PlantEra, offering organically grown CBD products; Rene Ruiz Collection, offering a fashionable mix of old-world craftsmanship and modern glamour by blending Miami’s sultry sexiness with graceful elegance; and Zero Empty Spaces, giving artists and customers a live, working studio to purchase art, collaborate, and commission artwork at affordable prices. Gulfstream is located at 901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach.
In December, Bolay opened a location in Kendall at 8746 Mills Drive in the Palms Town & Country. It’s the 17th location of the fast-casual build-your-own bowl restaurant from restauranteur Chris Gannon and his father, Outback Steakhouse co-founder Tim Gannon. Founded in Wellington in 2016, Bolay offers customers a variety of seasoned proteins and oven-roasted vegetables that can be layered in their “bol” like cilantro noodles and forbidden black rice.
Pizza chain Stoner’s Pizza Joint opened a Davie location in December at 3712 Davie Road. Offering specialty pizzas, calzones, strombolis, sandwiches, and hickory-smoked chicken wings, the chain is known for its commitment to the community. During the pandemic, owner John Stetson donated over 10,000 slices of pizza to students, medical staff, first responders, and families that were food insecure.
The Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables (358 San Lorenzo Ave.) is now home to a Tempur-Pedic location. The 2,400-square-foot space is the company’s third FL-based location (others in Tampa + Boca) and the 73rd location overall.
BOARD30 Studio opened a location in Weston late last year at 16668 Saddle Club Road. The fitness studio franchise provides a full-body resistance band workout offering low impact, high-intensity sessions in just 30 minutes.

Los Angeles-based wellness brand The NOW Massage (pictured above) will open its first South Florida location at 815 NE Second Ave. in the Flagler Village neighborhood.
