General Contractor Turns Focus to Transit-Oriented Developments in South Florida

With the Miami metro area ranking as the fifth most congested area in the U.S. for traffic, South Florida residents are constantly looking for ways to reduce their daily commute. And a Pompano Beach developer is taking note of the desire for renters to access transportation options to avoid the rush hour traffic.

Since Brightline and other rail travel options emerged, including Metrorail, Tri-Rail, and the Metromover, the area has seen an influx of transit-oriented developments near rail stations, allowing people to live, work and play within a pedestrian-friendly radius to nearby jobs, amenities, shops and attractions. Current Builders, an award-winning general contractor with over 50 years of experience, is actively working on three transit-oriented developments, which will bring 535 units, provide 470 full-time jobs onsite and over $105 million in construction costs in the South Florida market. The firm also plans to take advantage of the Orlando Brightline station opening, further expanding its transit-oriented development portfolio.

Current Builder’s active transit-oriented developments include:

  • Platform 3750 – A collection of 191 apartment homes in Coconut Grove with easy access via a five-minute walk to Miami Metro Rail. The community will house an Aldi Supermarket and Starbucks Coffee.
  • Avida Aventura – A 266-unit transit-oriented apartment community in the center of Aventura located minutes from the newly opened Brightline Aventura station.
  • Solaris Apartments – A 78-unit affordable apartment complex in Hallandale Beach.
