Spirit Airlines Introduces Additional Options for South Florida Travelers

The enhancements aim to add value and provide industry-leading flexibility.

Spirit Airlines has unveiled a range of traveler-friendly updates for South Florida travelers. This includes the introduction of new premium offerings aimed at providing a more comfortable and cost-effective travel experience. The airline will start offering these new travel options for booking on Aug. 16 and plans to launch the enhanced guest experience by Aug. 27. The airline also plans to roll out an upgraded boarding process across all its routes, as well as launch a priority check-in service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA) on Aug. 27.

“We’re unveiling a new era in Spirit’s history and taking low-fare travel to new heights with enhanced options that are unlike anything we’ve offered before,” says Ted Christie, Spirit’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We listened to our Guests and are excited to deliver what they want: choices for an elevated experience that are affordable and provide unparalleled value.”

Spirit is introducing a new premium experience at a reduced price, adding to its range of travel options designed to cater to all types of travelers. The four new travel options are Go Big, Go Comfy, Go Savvy, and Go, offering choices from elevated to economical. All four options include the flexibility of no change or cancel fees.

  • Go Big delivers the best value in the sky, providing a Big Front Seat®, snacks and drinks (including alcoholic beverages), one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority check-in and boarding, and streaming access through the fastest Wi-Fi of any U.S.-based airline. The Big Front Seat offers enhanced comfort with wider seats, extra legroom, additional seat cushioning, and no middle seat. “Go Big” will be available to book and experience starting Aug. 16, with snacks and drinks included and priority check-in launching on Aug. 27.
  • Go Comfy is a new seating option that provides extra comfort and space. It includes a blocked middle seat, one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority boarding, a snack, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Bookings for Go Comfy will open on Aug. 16, and the experience will commence on Aug. 27.
  • Go Savvy allows passengers to choose between carrying one carry-on bag or a checked bag and includes standard seat selection during the booking process. Go Savvy will be open for booking and travel starting from Aug. 16
  • Go is designed to provide the greatest affordability for individuals seeking a straightforward approach, with the option to purchase extras such as checked bags, standard seat selection, Wi-Fi, and snacks and beverages. The option to book and experience Go will commence on Aug. 16.

Starting on Aug. 27, Spirit will introduce a priority check-in service for passengers who choose to Go Big or are Free Spirit® Gold members or Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard holders at over 20 airports, including Atlanta (ATL), Cancun (CUN), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Detroit (DTW), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Houston (IAH), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Newark (EWR), New York-LaGuardia (LGA) and Orlando (MCO). BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
