Today’s Number: $6.9 million

Jimmy Buffett, known for his hummable songs about tropical locales, along with his wife, Jane, sold their house at 309 Garden Road in Palm Beach to Warren B. and Allison Kanders, property records show. The sale for $6.9 million fell a bit short of the listed price of $7.6, but Buffett still made a $2 million profit. He paid under $5 million for the 4,783-square foot home in 2011.

Denise Hanley of Denise A. Hanley, Inc. handled the sale for Buffett, while Christian Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate represented the buyers.
