Favorite Quote: “You overestimate what you can do in a year and underestimate what you can do in 10 years.”

Fun Fact: I love to dance, but I’m not a good dancer. I love to sing and I’m not a good singer.

What challenges have you faced in your career, and how did you overcome them? Some of the biggest challenges I have faced is finding a network of people who can properly hire the right people who can help you do the things that you are not an expert in. For example, finding those who understand branding, marketing and understanding my vision. I overcame this by venturing out beyond my industry. I chose to focus on surrounding myself with people who understand my vision and my brand story.

What has been the most monumental moment of your career thus far? Owning my own commercial piece of real estate was a big moment for me. I purchased an 8,000 square-foot building in Miami to open my second location. It was a surreal experience because I had gotten to the point that I was able to own something and operate it successfully.

How is the healthcare industry important to you personally? It’s important to me because medical professionals provide you with the resources that you need when you’re beyond self-care. It’s a relationship that requires full trust.

How did the pandemic disrupt your specific role in the healthcare industry, and how did you adapt? When COVID first happened, I focused on telemedicine since we had to close our office. For the dental industry, it’s still a new concept. Now we’ve continued offering this service and it’s expanded our scope of practice because we can access people who do not live here.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten? Tony Robbins – Have your WHY. Sometimes you have to go back and think about why you are doing what you’re doing. It’s easy to get lost in the process, but if you continue to go back to your WHY. For example, people always ask me why my new office needs a rooftop. For me, I always remember that this is what I want to be remembered for, which is offering a space for the community.

What do you love most about working in healthcare? People have to become vulnerable in the medical space and I love it because I find ways to make people feel comfortable. As a dentist, people are brought to tears when they are not happy with their teeth and I love that I can bring a smile to their faces.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.
