El Pama Tavern

Address: 551 N. Federal Highway, Suite 600, Fort Lauderdale

A sophisticated Latin steakhouse with a speakeasy vibe in Flagler Village, El Pama Tavern has a chop to satisfy any craving to enjoy one of the best steakhouse experiences in South Florida. From the Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop Tomahawk to seven choices of the best beef cuts that are certified Japanese A5 Wagyu, tender enough to cut with a butter knife. Along with culinary mastery, mixology is above par, too. The Millionaire Beluga Martini, made with mezcal and Beluga vodka, is a must. Be an insider and ask the server for a “caviar bump” – a splash of real Beluga caviar.

JWB Prime Steak and Seafood

Address: At the Margaritaville Beach Resort, 1111 N. Ocean Drive, Hollywood

The Buzz: Is the signature dish at JWB’s better than a cheeseburger in paradise? Well, we’re not going to debate that, but we will say that the restaurant that bears James (Jimmy) William Buffet’s name is prime. Live it up and order the Surf & Turf, a savory eight-ounce center-cut prime filet paired with a hearty-sized broiled lobster tail.

NYY Steak

Address: 5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek

The Buzz: The tomahawk ribeye steak, also known as a “cowboy” or a “long bone-in” ribeye gets the personal touch at NYY Steak inside the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. The 32 oz. Long Bone Ribeye here isn’t just made to order, it’s personally etched. Tell Dad you’ve already selected his steak before he takes his seat at the table and he’ll be surprised when the big daddy arrives with his initials carved into the end of the bone. For baseball fans, the upscale steakhouse has a New York Yankees theme, hence the name NYY.

South Florida Steakhouses

The Amalfi Llama

Address: Esplanade at Aventura, 19505 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 1450, Aventura

The Buzz: Take in the aroma at this rustic, modern live-fire steakhouse that fuses flavors from Southern Patagonia to the Mediterranean coast of Italy. Steaks are made on an open grill, where the idea is to harness fire, smoke and coals to craft the perfect dish. Prepared over the fire is a selection of prime meats – the juiciest most tender cut is the Prime Center Filet. Enjoy any of the steaks with a suggestion from the sommelier’s choice of a wide range of coastal wines.

Bourbon Steak

Address: Inside the JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa, 19999 West Country Club Drive, Aventura

The Buzz: Michelin-starred Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak has been in residence at the swanky Turnberry since 2008 and no wonder. The atmosphere is exceptional, the wine list expansive, and the cuts of beef unforgettable. The most extraordinary is the Dry Aged — a grass-fed bone-in 20-ounce Kansas City Strip, a 40-ounce Porterhouse (for sharing), a 34-ounce Tomahawk, and the list goes on. Select from a trio of sauces from Béarnaise, creamy horseradish, red wine au jus, au poivre, chimichurri or Bourbon steak sauce. Try the blue cheese crust on the eight-ounce filet mignon created with Mina’s gift of infusing flavors to perfection.

Drew Limsky

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
