Applications Now Open for South Florida Executive Programs at Jim Moran Institute

The deadline is Sept. 30.

The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, a part of the Florida State University Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, is currently open for applications for its Spring 2025 Small Business Executive Program (SBEP) and Nonprofit Executive Program (NPEP) in South Florida. These programs are provided at no cost to participants. They are made possible through funding from The Jim Moran Foundation, Jan Moran and her late husband, automotive pioneer Jim Moran.

“Owners and organization leaders are expected to wear many hats,” says Jennifer Kovach, director of the Jim Moran Institute’s South Florida Operations. “On top of running the business or nonprofit, these professionals are often tasked with managing sales, marketing, client relations, business development, succession planning, accounting and more.” “Our Executive Programs were created to help these entrepreneurs and executives manage these many roles and learn to run their organizations efficiently and successfully.”

The SBEP caters to CEOs, entrepreneurs, business owners, and presidents of small businesses, while the NPEP is tailored to executive directors, presidents, and CEOs of nonprofit organizations. Graduates acquire the skills and training necessary to transform challenges into strategic advantages, seize business opportunities, and implement best practice management. Since the inception of the Executive Programs in 2013, the South Florida team has overseen the progress of 48 classes and guided nearly 800 leaders across various industries to successful graduation.

The Executive Programs comprise nine sessions dedicated to business or nonprofit growth and management. These Spring 2025 sessions will begin in January and conclude in May, once every two weeks from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jim Moran Institute’s office in Fort Lauderdale, 1401 E. Broward Blvd. No. 304.

“I loved the expertise and candor of the presenters and appreciated that they were all locally based,” says NPEP graduate Marie Berlin, CEO of Young At Art Museum. “I learned about board development, HR, risk management, and more, and found this all to be extremely beneficial for my role. My advice for others considering applying, make the commitment. There is an ROI that is long-lasting.”

Applicants must be the primary decision-makers and actively engaged in operating their organization. The organization, whether a company or a nonprofit, must have existed for a minimum of three years and have at least three employees or volunteers. Those who complete the program will receive a certificate and have the opportunity to participate in an ongoing peer roundtable. They will also be encouraged to participate in various workshops, conferences, and other events hosted by the Jim Moran Institute.
