Young, Bright & Boardroom Bound

Meet Emerge Broward's Most Promising Young Professionals

Emerge Broward just gave South Florida’s nonprofit sector a major boost of next-gen talent. The leadership group announced 23 rising professionals selected for its 2025 Board Engagement Program—an initiative designed to train, empower, and place emerging leaders (ages 21–35) on the boards of some of Broward County’s most impactful organizations.

From real estate agents and attorneys to tax analysts, engineers, and healthcare strategists, this year’s class brings a diverse mix of industries—and fresh perspectives—to the boardroom. Through a collaboration with the Community Foundation of Broward, participants receive expert-led training in nonprofit governance and board responsibilities before being matched to a nonprofit for a one-year term of service.

“These young leaders are stepping up to serve with purpose, represent the next generation of decision-makers, and help shape a stronger South Florida,” said Andrew Caksackkar, Project Manager for Florida Power and Light and Emerge Broward’s Board President. “This year’s program produced top talent across various industries who will bring their time and insight to these prestigious organizations.”

Board placements span a dynamic mix of causes, from youth mentorship and mental health to LGBTQ+ archives and equine-assisted therapy.

“Dynamic leadership is critical to the Community Foundation of Broward’s work to champion philanthropy that builds community and opportunity here in Broward,” said Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D. “We are thrilled to support Emerge Broward’s Board Engagement Program, which helps develop the next generation of talented board leaders who reflect our community’s rich diversity.”
